Geek Fantasies Jedi Mind Trick

Alot has occurred this past week. As if it wouldn't.

Other than my daughter being bit by a stray cat, son acquiring stitches on his lip, and my wife being sick all week, it's been tame.

I had a den cub scout meeting Tuesday night.
I have a school board meeting tonight.
We plan on going to Tulsa this weekend. However, I need to be back by Sunday, since I am oncall this Memorial Day. I have to transfer over some server IP's around 3:15 a.m. Monday morning. It's just a benefit of being on-call.

Other than that, I have been working on some new websites. One is simply a site showing Movie Trailers and the other is (I hope) a means to post interesting videos. That site can be found here

Finally home from the week away. I had to catch up the yard, ect. but it was so nice to be in my own bed again.

I think the family is in resolve now to attain completion of some projects.

Back to the drawing board. Busy work, busy schedule, busy life. Not that it slowed any while we were in Texas, but still, back to the grind.

We had to travel to Texas last Thursday (I took off work for the drive). It was about a 9 hour drive to our destination.

We are fortunate to be able to stay with Kel's family while here in Cibola, Texas. The company is sweet and the absent cost of a hotel is not un-noticed. They are a cool crew to be with. Very laid back, all with good demeanor's.

While up here, I have had a good fix of guy movies as well. Normally, I have to wait for my family to be in bed before I can/will crank one on. One night we watched Blood Diamonds and the other night we watched Fly Boys. I liked them both.

Yesterday, one of Kel's cousins took me out on the shooting range. Unfortunately, we really do not have one in our area, so this was a cool surprise. The cousin has a Glock . His buddies brought theirs as well. I would say minimum, a 9 mm, mini-glock, 357 magnum, berreta, was brought. This did not count the long rifles. I was able to fire all of them during the 2-3 hour target practice. I haven't fired a gun in quite some time. To be able the variety was a real treat. I was mostly impressed with one of his friends enthusiasm and knowledge.

Jerry Allen appears to be a model American citizen. He dresses well, has a charming wife, and makes a decent living as an accountant. But after he loses his job and his mortgage application falls through, he quickly sinks into a media-fueled obsession with his country's war on terrorism. When a Muslim student named Gabe Hassan unexpectedly moves in next door, Allen's fears are further exacerbated.

It is simply that. A means for me to post the new movie releases and teasers. Check them out. Simply click the pic to view the videos.

Apparently I have been tagged. The rules are to post 10 facts about myself and tag 10 additional people. Sorry Anne, I don't really have 10 to tag. However, I will post my 10 facts.

1) I love spicy food.(Mexican, jalepenos, ect)
2) I hardly drink beer(twice this year), but when I do, it has to be a Corona extra (love those)
3) I have a short attention span. Once I fill my need to learn it, I move on.
4) I love technology, but miss the simple life (before computers).
5) I love to garden, but cnn only grow weeds.
6) I hate what PC (political correctness) has done to our culture.
7) I have been married to the same woman for nearly 12 years and I have never regretted it.
8) I have a tendency to analyze everyone.
9) I hated history as a kid, but now love it.
10) I hated country and western music as a kid, but now prefer it.

This should scare the hell out of you.

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday that if she is elected president, she would make her husband a roaming ambassador to the world, using his skills to repair the nation's tattered image abroad.

"I can't think of a better cheerleader for America than Bill Clinton, can you?" the Democratic senator from New York asked a crowd jammed into a junior high school gymnasium. "He has said he would do anything I asked him to do. I would put him to work."

Talk about a cool weekend.

Friday night, I and my daughter went out camping together. It was a Dad's and Daughter's retreat. This was the first one for us. It was out in the sticks at a Church of all things, nearby a lake.

We put up the tent and went fishing for awhile. I have to admit, it made me twinge in missing the simple life. I enjoyed the brief time fishing with her. Since it was the first time I fished in years(literally), and her second time in her life, we really didn't have the proper equipment. However, it was still a treat.

We played games that night and really enjoyed our quality time alone. We crashed after 11 p.m. in the tent and was outta there before 5:30 a.m. After I finally fell asleep, I was awaken by a dumb dog barking in the camp at 4 a.m. (I checked the time). After laying there for an hour, I finally woke Britt up and we headed out. I didn't see anyone stirring that early. Oh well. It was a fabulous time and I look forward to doing it again.

Getting home that Saturday, showered and about 4-5 cups of coffee later, we met the other GirlScout mom's at the destination point. We drove all the way to Hot Springs, Arkansas to Magic Springs. It was a good time, although a bit too much sun.

We didn't make it back home till 10:30 p.m. Talk about exhausting. It was tiring, but worth it.

Sunday at Sunday School and home. I ran and grabbed 21 bags of Top Soil. My son and I did the heavy lifting.

Now we are heavily into a deep cleaning of the house. Yeah, busy and exhausting weekend, but a really cool one.

I found this surprising, but healthy for America.

After more than thirty-four years of Court-allowed abortion on demand—at any time, for any reason—the Supreme Court of the United States has upheld a ban on an abortion procedure.

Hallelujah!

In a 5-4 decision, the Court ruled that Congress’ 2003 ban on partial-birth abortion is constitutional, meaning that the gruesome procedure may no longer be practiced in the United States of America.

This is what he hoped and prayed for when we elected pro-life legislators, even when their early efforts to end this procedure were vetoed by the then-President. This is what we hoped and prayed for when we elected pro-life Americans who would nominate and confirm judicial nominees. This is what we hoped and prayed for when two new Supreme Court justices were added to the bench.

Today, those years of hoping and praying have borne the best kind of fruit—the protection of defenseless lives.

Three years ago, Dr. Kennedy praised Congress and the President for enacting the ban on partial-birth abortion. “Unborn children cannon speak,” he noted, “but Congress and the President have spoken on their behalf. In so doing they have fulfilled what Thomas Jefferson called the ‘first and only legitimate object of good government,’ which is, he said, ‘the care of human life and happiness.’”

Jefferson recognized that we are all endowed by our Creator with an inalienable right to life. That endowment comes when life begins—and, biologically speaking, there is no debate but that human life begins at fertilization. The Scriptures agree about the humanity of the unborn. “For you created my inmost being,” the Psalmist David proclaims. “You knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13 NIV).

The ruling, written by Justice Anthony Kennedy, and joined by Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito, affirms that the government has “a legitimate and substantial interest in preserving and promoting fetal life.”

It states clearly that, “The law need not give abortion doctors unfettered choice in the course of their medical practice.”

It acknowledges the common sense reality that “some women come to regret their choice to abort the infant life they once created and sustained.”

The ruling is a token of the justness of our cause and our ultimate victory to come, as we continue to cry out for those being lead to destruction (Proverbs 31:8). This is the crack in the foundation of abortion on demand in America.

I thought this was a interesting snippet regarding Pelosi.

Personally, I think it's dangerous for Pelosi to be going around 'speaking' to these other leaders on her own. It gives a message of a divided country. It's one thing to disagree with the leader, it's another to engage in communication with the enemies on your own.

Reading the snippet below, it appears she is not only engaging in talks on her own, but seriously miscommunicating. We have enough issues without someone trying to put a shine on their pin.

Does Pelosi have a right to negotiate over Israel’s land?
Can it be possible that Nancy Pelosi is agreeable to a meeting with the president of a terrorist-supporting and harboring state, and yet refuses to meet with the President of the United States?
Earlier this week, Ms. Pelosi declined to attend a meeting with President Bush at the White House to talk about funding for the war in Iraq.
One of the things Pelosi said while on her jaunt to Syria was, "There is no division on policy between us and President Bush -- be it on Israel, Palestine or Syria."
Pelosi has been chided over her "foolish shuttle diplomacy." She has also been taken to task for her claim that the Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, requested that she act as a messenger to Bashar Assad with the pronouncement that "Israel was ready to engage in peace talks." Prime Minister Olmert’s spokesperson has since set the record straight – and corrected Ms. Pelosi.
According to Ms. Pelosi, Bashar Assad was prepared to "resume the peace process.”
The Washington Post reported that: "Ms. Pelosi not only misrepresented Israel's position but was virtually alone in failing to discern that Mr. Assad's words were propaganda."

Although, it was a quick weekend (didn't feel like much of one at all), it was still nice in respects of some things.

I left work early Friday afternoon and we drove to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where we attended a "Family Rulz" conference.

Lisa Whelchel and Dennis Swansburg were the guests speakers. I knew of Lisa but hadn't heard of Danny. I was impressed with both.

Friday evening was more of a introduction to the speakers, where as Saturday was the full conference.

Both spoke in 2 sessions that were broken up in a split session (Lisa for the women and Danny for the guys). This was nice, because it allowed everyone to hear both, yet have a special session for just the individual mom/dad.

During all this, the kids were entertained with a movie that Friday night and a magician that Saturday. Everyone enjoyed the conference.

We drove home after the conference, not arriving to Fort Smith till 4:30 p.m. It pretty much killed Saturday.

Sunday we went to church and back home to prepare for the week. I was excited to lead the mens Sunday school yesterday.

The mobile sensor tower caught my eye this morning.

Seems the Boeing company has devised a first SBInet Mobile Sensor Tower that will identify anyone coming across the borders. Their first test was a success in Fort Walton Beach Florida. "The tower houses cameras, radar, wireless data access points, communications and computer equipment, and a tower security system. When combined with Border Patrol agent vehicle modifications, the mobile sensor towers will provide surveillance data to the Common Operating Picture, a critical component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's comprehensive border security solution."

I think it's an interesting idea. However, to identify them and to push them back is two different things. Personally I think we also need to clean up the means to deport those we find.

The kids and I went to Cub Scouts last night. I have to say, I was most impressed with my kids demeanors and the way the behave, compared to the other kids.

Prior to last nights Cub Scout meeting, we have been working on our Cub Scout electives, tasks, ect. to get them signed off at the meeting. Alot of the extra electives are simple tasks, projects, ect.

I grew tired of having to turn the lights off in rooms with no kids. So I called both in last night before the meeting and we did the 'Conservation elective'. We learned how we as a family can save energy by turning off the lights, TV's ect. , especially when no-one is in the room using them. We also learned of water usage, not to leave the refrigerator door open, ect. I have to say, the only thing they are bad at is the lights left on in the bedrooms.

So now, every time I come across a light left on in a room, I go to the kids and simply state, "I am thinking of a word that starts with a C. It's a word that we learned about recently." It's funny to see the figurative light bulb come on and they run back to the rooms to turn out the lights.
